Doug Knuth
ASSISTANT AD - DEVELOPMENT for ATHLETICS and DIRECTOR of the CRIMSON CLUB
On September 1, 2005, Doug Knuth was named the University of Utah’s Director of Development for Athletics and Director of the Crimson Club. With 13 years of experience in collegiate athletics development and ticketing, Doug is an outstanding addition to Utah’s external relations staff. His new position involves running the day-to-day operations of the Crimson Club, overseeing the annual fund drive, handling major gifts, and coordinating the scholarship-seating program.
Doug attended the University of Connecticut where he was four-year letter winner and captain of the tennis team. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and continued his educational pursuits by earning two master’s degrees – a MBA from Northwood University and a master’s degree in sports administration and facility management from Ohio University.
He started his career in athletics administration and fundraising at UConn, then moved to UMass, Ohio University and Michigan State. Most recently, at Michigan State, he was responsible for the annual giving program, as well as managing major gifts associated with the expansion of Spartan Stadium through suite and club seats sales.
Having worked with him at Michigan State, Chris Ritrievi is thrilled to have Doug join the University of Utah staff. “I am familiar with Doug’s background and quality of work from the time we spent together on the athletics staff at Michigan State,” said Ritrievi, “He will do a great job for Utah Athletics and the Crimson Club”.
Doug is excited to live and work in Salt Lake City, “My wife (Marilyn) and I are thrilled to join the Salt Lake community, a community which rallies around the University of Utah. I am equally excited to continue working with Chris Ritrievi, and his external relations staff, to build strong partnerships with our coaches, former letter winners, alumni and fans to support Utah Athletics,” said Knuth. |
