Chris Ritrievi
ASSOCIATE AD for EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
During the summer of 2005, after a long search and some organizational restructuring, Utah Athletics Director Chris Hill announced the hiring of Chris Ritrievi as the new Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. “We were set on hiring the right person for this job, rather than hiring someone too quick. It was really tough for our donors and our staff to have a skeleton crew in the Crimson Club office for so long, but ultimately the extra time spent searching provided the right person to lead the external side of the department,” said Chris Hill.
In this new position, Chris Ritrievi (pronounced Rih-TREE-vee) oversees the athletic development office (Crimson Club), the athletic marketing office, and has close interaction with the athletic ticket office. Chris has 23 years of experience as a college athletics administrator and fundraiser, which makes him a welcome addition to the University of Utah.
He has held athletics fundraising positions at Michigan State, Stanford, Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Bowling Green. He also spent seven years as the Director of Athletics at the University of Northern Iowa overseeing a 19-sport Division-I athletics program.
Chris is a former Division-I athlete from Princeton, where he earned three varsity letters in wrestling. He graduated in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and went on to earn his MBA in 1983 from Lehigh.
Chris and his wife, Stephanie, moved to Salt Lake City this past summer and are delighted to become part of the University of Utah family as well as the Salt Lake City community. As for what the future holds, Ritrievi said, “I am excited to join the Utah Athletics program and look forward to helping our coaches and student-athletes accomplish great things on and off the playing field.” |
